The Background

Son of the Midwest, hailing from Chicago and Peoria llinois,artist Real T@lk has no gimmicks, just pure passion for formulating bars that give birth to stanzas, which he transcribes into verses. At the age of seventeen Real T@lk forged a partnership with his pen and chartered his journey in prose. Deciding to try his hand in poetry, he quickly emerged as one of the hottest spoken word artists in the Midwest, doing shows while in school at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He toured the Midwest college circuit and was put on the bill at universities such as Bradley University, Chicago State University, Illinois State University, and the University of Illinois in Champaign. While in college Real T@lk formed a bond with friend and producer Authentik Made. Upon graduation from school, the two decided to work on a project together and Real made the transition from spoken word artist to Emcee. In the summer of 2009, his first project ,“The Mo’ Better Mixtape” was released. The mixtape took the internet by storm and received publicity and praises from blog sites all over the world. The stellar production by Authentik Made and the fresh lyricism of Real T@lk on the project impressed The Source magazine, who named Real Unsigned Hype in their December 2009 issue. Real T@lk describes his style as “hip hop, pop, top 40, R&B, urban contemporary, easy listening, funk love”. He has spent the last few months touring with a stageplay he wrote, produced and acts in,”The Yard” and prepping for the release on his 2nd mixtape ” The Sitcom” slated to be released this August.
