As Planet Asia returns from his trip to Africa, we thought it fitting to release the track “Thyself.” Since knowledge and wisdom produces understanding, Gensu Dean brought in some heavyweight friends, David Banner & Tragedy Khadafi, to drop jewels on listeners. Let Dean’s mystic production draw you into the zone, so that you can acknowledge the Gods speech. Know thyself.
The Grand Imperial Gensu Dean and West Coast legend Planet Asia have teamed up for Abrasions, a frantic ride through 17 tracks of unbridled Hip-Hop. Planet Asia is at his best spitting bar after bar of lyrical fire, filled with dense wordplay, astute observations, and knock ‘em down punchlines, while Gensu Dean produces what has to be the pinnacle of SP1200 production in the contemporary age. The LP features previously-released song selection “Faces on the Dollar” and guest contributions from Grammy award winner David Banner and underground stalwarts Gold Chain Military, Tragedy Khadafi, Tristate and more.
The Grand Imperial Gensu Dean caused waves with his Mello Music Group debut LP Lo-Fi Fingahz. Never one to rest on his laurels, the southern beat maestro is ready to announce his sophomore project with the legendary Planet Asia titled “Abrasions” that will be out this winter on MMG. But to hold fans over in the meantime, Dean is drops some new visuals for his collaboration off of Lo-Fi Fingahz with David Banner, “Alice In Wonderland”.
Conceived and directed by Calvan Fowler of Daydream Filmworks, the same mind and lens that directed Dean’s previous video “Forever feat. Large Professor” this clip is a trip down the rabbit hole complete with mad hatters, giant rabbits and sadistic doctors. David Banner sounds energized as he plays off Deans’ smooth guitar sample in a two-verse tale about a woman done wrong. The two Mississippi natives show great chemistry in the clip, no surprise since the two go back years—their first work together was more than 10 years ago when Banner was in the heralded group, Crooked Lettaz.
“Alice In Wonderland” can be found on the stellar Lo-Fi Fingahz album, still available on cd, vinyl, and digital. Stay tuned for more news on Gensu Dean & Planet Asia new album, Abrasions, coming on Mello Music Group.
Hip-Hop Icon Xzibit will make his grand re-entry into the rap game on October 9, 2012 with the release of his explosive album titled “Napalm.” X to the Z has caused quite a stir in the industry with this much-anticipated project that captures the events in his life over the most recent years. With his signature gruff baritone and hard-hitting beats, X is sure to take to the music charts with the album’s title track “Napalm” produced by 1500 or Nothin, featuring drums by Travis Barker and scratches by DJ Sid of Slipknot.
“If you know Hip-Hop, you’re going to love and appreciate ‘Napalm,’” notes Xzibit. “The tone of the album is a testament to what I’ve been through in the last six years. I’m ready to kick some ass!” X links up with award winning producer Dr. Dre yet again, along with other notable producers including Akon, David Banner, S1, Focus and UK’s Beat Butcher, for a dynamic sound. Guest features on the 18-track album include Wiz Khalifa, Prodigy, Crooked I, The Game, Slim The Mobster and Tha Alkaholiks.
The rap veteran has strategic plans to raise the bar with the American troops-inspired music video for “Napalm,” shot in Iraq. “It was surreal when we visited real, relevant places like Saddam Hussein’s Palace and actually filmed my video and documentary in there,” recalls X. He chose the military theme as an ode to the thankless job of our country’s soldiers who fight overseas. X noted the song is a strong representation of the aggressive tone of his entire new album as well as an indication of the maturity and growth X has experienced. He will give his dedicated fans a behind the scenes view of what he saw and felt via a bi-weekly, 4-part film series documenting his travels to Iraq and the inspiration behind the title “Napalm.”
The mixtape features David Banner, Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica and many others. The mixtape’s official release will be Tuesday July 17th through Wandering Worx Music and the release party will be held at Calabash in Vancouver, BC on Thursday July 12th.
David Banner’s appearance on Chin Injeti’s “Peoples Mixtape” is the final advance single before its July 17 release via Wandering Worx as a free download. In the track “Peoples 2″ produced by Chin, David Banner comes with a style far removed from his earlier works such as “Like A Pimp”. “Play”, and “Get Like Me”. Weather it’s the raw production of Chin’s hard hitting drums and the ringing church organ that sounds anything but angelic, or just a musical change for Banner, the Mississippi MC approaches the record with aggression and heavy punchlines from a roaring voice box.
“Walking Around My Dreams” is the latest single off Chin Injeti’s upcoming mixtape, “Walking Around My Dreams” featuring Talib Kweli. The mixtape drops July 17th with features from David Banner, Talib Kweli, and Jay Electronica.

“Sex, Drugs and Video Games” is a free album, but Banner is asking for fans to support “The 2M1Movement”. The goal of “Sex, Drugs & Video Games” is to show the world Urban music is still valuable. And how is he going to do that? Banner needs 2 million of you to download this mixtape for free, then he needs the same 2 million of you to donate at least $1 to the movement; but feel free to donate more, as there is no maximum donation.
And what is “The Movement” you may ask? This movement is to start controlling our own music, movies and content…PERIOD! As David Banner states “We are not simply characters in a video game being controlled by the invisible hand. Once this donation goal is met, I’m going to shoot a movie that will drop 5-22-2013 and a portion of the donations are also going to charity. Big shout out to Louie C.K. for the motivation.
