Having racked up positive reviews for previously-leaked cuts Winner and Home, DJBooth and Puma remain Uncontested thus far in the lead-up to their forthcoming compilation EP. If you need further convincing, take a listen to the aptly-titled Incredible (a Booth-exclusive world premiere!), which finds Panhandle State favorite Laws rhyming over the larger-than-life synth boardwork of L.A. & Feb. 9 (complete with Funky President ‘Hey!‘s). Digging it? Then be sure to check back with us Monday, the 25th, when Uncontested hits our mixtape page for free streaming and download!
When it comes to being a Winner, believing in oneself may not be the whole battle (case in point, Charlie Sheen), but it’s a damn good start. Making its world premiere on our front page, the inaugural leak off DJBooth.net and PUMA‘s forthcoming compilation EP is a testament to the power of perception to shape reality; over Reef‘s gritty, guitar-laced sample work, bumping in the background, Philadelphia fast-riser (and freestyle series alum) Gilbere Forte’ addresses those who may not have heard his name before, forecasting his future greatness in verses that prove his sky-high self-confidence justified: “I’m looking up in the sky to see if God knows the destiny that I chose: to be the leader of the life of those who lack souls.” Fellow Philly repper (and freestyle contributor) Freeway sums it all up on the back: “I’m a winner not because y’all n*ggas losers, but I’m a winner simply ‘cause that’s what I choose to be.” If this determination-drenched banger whets your appetite for further freshness, keep it locked; due out July 25, the EP will feature original material from Emilio Rojas, Laws, Spree Wilson, Sir Michael Rocks and more!
DJBooth.net and Converse have joined forces to bring listeners 2011 Remixed (Volume 1), a compilation featuring fresh remixes from some of the hottest underground and up-and-coming artists in the game. Released in tandem with the launch of the footwear giant’s latest marketing campaign, the project includes nine of the most highly-acclaimed remixes to hit our front page over the course of 2011, coming courtesy of such Booth favorites as Yonas (”Nobody Else (Remix)”), íMAYDAY! (”Highs & Lows (Remix)”) and Soul Khan (”Shot Glass Magnified (Remix)”). In addition to the previously-featured cuts listed above (and many more), 2011 Remixed (Volume 1) comes complete with an exclusive, never-before-heard remix of Rapsody‘s “Intro (Thank U),” a joint off her Booth-sponsored Thank H.E.R. Now mixtape.
The 250th and final entry in our Exclusive Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Yonas, the NYC buzzmaker who hooked up with DJBooth to sell his acclaimed The Proven Theory album in late April. Yonas is currently busy promoting The Proven Theory, available here for free streaming and download. In addition, the artist’s next live performance is set to go down August 5, at a yet-unspecified NYC venue.
The 249th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Fortilive, the Hawaiian trio who hooked up with the Booth to drop debut album I vs. I. On their brand new, exclusive On Site freestyle, Slo-Mo and Mushmouf flow over original boardwork by crewmate !llmind.
