On The Clock with FLuD: Torae [video]

14 11 2012

We caught up with Torae for another “On The Clock” session and got the downlow on his “What It Sound Like” video, you know shooting in Thailand and all that normal stuff. He tells us what the wildest thing he ever saw in NYC was, which is quite interesting unless you’re accustomed to watching people fornicate in the city streets. Yea, we didn’t think so…

Torae L. Carr, better known by his first name, Torae is an acclaimed indie American rapper from Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. He first gained notability for his colab LP Double Barrel with Marco Polo, which was shortly released after his debut album Daily Conversation. Torae is known to lean more toward the lyrical side of hip-hop with his “old-school” flow and tight hooks.

On The Clock with FLuD: Murs & Fashawn [video]

3 10 2012

When “Murs for President” came out, it was a time when the United States was in the middle of a tense political and social climate. We were on the cusp of a new electron, a deep financial crisis, and social media revealed itself as a leading form of mass communication. In an era when we felt bombarded by popular culture, Murs humorously and profoundly commented on the state of things, in turn contributing to a voice of the current generation. A couple of years have passed since “Murs for President,” and many things have changed for us. The feeling of being overwhelmed has turned into a subtle blase towards all things, a certain nonchalance for the otherwise shocking.

Cue “This Generation,” the new collaboration album between Murs and XXL Freshman Class alumni Fashawn. The album, which features beats by production duo Beatnik & K-Salaam, was created with the intention to identify with its namesake. FLuD Way TV got the opportunity to speak with the two artists for a light-hearted interview about their creative influence. After the short interview, the artists gave us an a cappella sneak peek of what to expect on their album, which was released last week. Check out “This Generation” on iTunes and in record stores nationwide, released via Duck Down Music.

King Mez sits down with Flud Way TV of Flud Watches to discuss a few things. Mezitron tells where his name came from, the creative process behind “My Everlasting Zeal,” what influences him, and working with J. Cole (expect more from these 2 soon). “I speak on what’s on my heart and mind, not what’s popular or what the masses are talking about. There’s no outside influence, except the things that i want to be influenced by. I think that’s what sets me apart the most.” Download King Mez’s free album, ‘My Everlasting Zeal’ today on LifeandTimes.com!
