MTV Hive enlisted Detroit producer Hir-O to put together “The Origin Story,” a 43-minute mix that narrates his musical career with exclusive new material, previous highlights, and songs from influences such as J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Nujabes. MTV Hive wrote that Hir-O’s beats “are intentional in their ruggedness and dissonance.” They added, “Rest assured that the institution of Detroit hip-hop is being maintained by capable young hands.”
