Today marks the one year anniversary of the passing of our friend Gavin Theory, an amazing emcee/producer from the group Hives Inquiry Squad. Although he left us way too soon, his music lives on. In addition to his existing catalog (peep http://hivesinquirysquad.com/), there are sure to be some unreleased gems that will surface over the years. We are happy to share one of these gems today, as IAME and Lucas Dix (of Hives Inquiry Squad & Jellyfish Brigade) present Po’est Pimpin’ – which finds the two emcees talking dollars and sense over some unmistakeable Gavin Theory funk. Rest in Power Gavin Theory.
IAME drops a new track “A Heven” produced by Smoke M2D6, inspired by Heaven Noise Recordings.
“It’s been almost a year since I released my latest album; the Smoke M2D6 produced exercise in post-swag party crashing, titled Lame$tream. In addition to promoting the new record, I’ve spent the past 11 months working on a number of solo and collaborative projects as well as running my own label, Heaven Noise Recordings.
Heaven Noise Recordings is the main inspiration for “A Heven” (choose your own pronunciation). “A Heven” is a one-off single that pretty much picks up where Lame$tream left off in terms of Smoke M2D6′s production and my overall mental state. The theme of this song was pretty much born by me looking at HNR (Heaven Noise Recordings) as a place where tracks go after they’re killed. It’s just one of the meanings behind the whole Heaven Noise name.” – IAME
It’s been two years since Sandpeople’s OnlyOne teamed up with producer Lawz Spoken on what Lawz describes as the “80′s drug drama/computer sci-fi” album, CHRON (available at http://lawzspoken.com) . To mark the 2nd anniversary of its release, battle veteran and fellow Sandpeople member Illmaculate presents the sequel, CHRON: Legacy. This time it’s Illmaculate in the lead role over Lawz Spoken’s gritty, dramatic production but OnlyOne “co-stars” on a majority of the album’s tracks (think Ghostface Killah on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx). Supporting-cast includes IAME, Goldini Bagwell, Cassow, and Epp.
West Coast artists Nomis, IAME (of Sandpeople/Oldominion), & Ruslan of theBREAX dropped this fresh remix to Talib Kweli’s new single, “Push Thru.” Inspired by the original (which also features Curren$y & Kendrick Lamar), the three emcees decided this would be a perfect platform to further the good fight.
One year ago today, IAME (Sandpeople/Oldominion) released his 4th solo album, Lame – a title inspired by a common misprint of his name and his general sentiment towards popular culture. Today also happens to be his birthday. Although the Portland emcee has been busy this year releasing 2 new albums (The Deaf Kid Mixtape, Lame$tream), touring, and running his own Heaven Noise Recordings label, he wanted to celebrate Lame today by giving away one last song from the album. “Carlin List” features Solillaquists of Sound and was produced by Smoke M2D6 (Oldominion). For those of you unfamiliar with Solillaquists of Sound, they are an Orlando based hip hop group who make incredible music and have recently released a brand new album titled The 4th Wall (Part 1). Check them out at www.solilla.com.
Sandpeople rep “The P” (aka Portland, Oregon) right on their 3rd new single in recent weeks, produced by fellow P dweller Trox. Trox is a rising star who has already worked with such heavyweights as 50 Cent and Krizz Kaliko. “The P” is a perfect example of why Portland hip hop shouldn’t be taken lightly and Sandpeople hope to prove this to the rest of the world on their upcoming European tour. This will be uncharted territory for the crew and to raise support they are urging fans to visit their kickstarter page where plenty of exclusive art, music, and clothing packages are available. If they meet or exceed their goal it will assist with the European and US tour efforts. Treat yourself proper – don’t sleep on SP or “The P”!
