Download: Stones Throw Podcast 81: Jonwayne Daytime Naps
Jonwayne has created an ambient, 67-minute mixtape called Daytime Naps, his first mix in the Stones Throw Podcast series.
He explains it: “For a couple of years I have started to embrace daytime napping again. Back in the day it was just something we did, but I feel that if you have a schedule that allows it you shouldn’t feel out of touch with the act of passing out on a couch or going back to bed altogether. It leaves more time in the night for creation and contemplation, which I feel we all need. I don’t know if this should be a soundtrack to your afternoon conks, but I’m positive it’s mine.”
This mix is long enough so that you can nap in the middle and still catch the beginning and end of the mix, but we recommend hearing the entire mix also while awake.
Podcast artwork by Henry DeMaio. A link below contains a 320 MP3 download of the mix along with several other variations of the artwork by Daddy Kev, Deeleon, Miko Revereza, Alima and Mndsgn.

Jonwayne’s Cassette 2 is suppose to be strictly cassette – No LP, CD, Digital, no Laser Disc – but we couldn’t resist busting out the Coca Cola Walkman and ripping another of the favorite tracks from the release, “Cool Runnings” feat. Zeroh.
Cassette 2 was released last month after we caught some flack for the original Cassette release (read: Philip Morris smacks Stones Throw over Jonwayne cassette). Unless there’s any more international conglomerates we can tick off with our all-powerful cassette tapes, next up for Jonwayne will be Rap Album One, coming summer 2013.

We released Jonwayne’s “Cassette” late last year, raps & beats designed to look like a pack of cigarettes. Soon after, we got a cease & desist letter from smokes giant Philip Morris demanding that we pull the cassettes and have them destroyed. No use fighting The Man, so we’re taking that cassette out of production …. and here’s our new one.
Cassette 2 is all new music, 36 mins of raps & beats from Jonwayne, feat. Jeramiah Jae, Zeroh, Quelle.

New music from Jonwayne, titled “Royalty.”
Some shit that didn’t make the album, but a taste of what’s to come. Peace, thanks for supporting and I hope that things will keep moving forward so I can continue to make things.

Jonwayne’s new release is a rap cassette. That is to say, a hip-hop album called Cassette, released only on cassette, playable on a cassette player.
We’re not posting the track list, and we’re not releasing this on anything but a cassette. Side A is beats and raps by Jonwayne with Brainfeeder’s Jeremiah Jae. Side B is beats and no raps by Jonwayne. Total running time: 23:39. Design by Jeff Jank.
The MC/producer/Low End Theory DJ offered no explanation as to why he wanted to release his album on cassette. Ask if he wished to expand on the idea he said, “not particularly.”
