This is a collage of sounds from Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and the roots of their music. This half-hour mix is a journey through instrumentals and interviews of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Phil Cohran, added in with a sprinkle of Sun Ra, whom Cohran worked with in the pivotal, early years. The listening experience will shed light on the Chicago family’s story, inspiration, and feelings. 9 brothers and a father will share the stage at this legendary, once in a lifetime experience.

The 11th of March 2011 saw Japan suffer its largest earthquake in history, 9.0 on the Richter scale. The quake was soon followed by an enormous tsunami with waves measuring up to ten meters high.
This natural disaster has wiped out towns, taken thousands and thousands of lives (with even more still missing) and had further knock on affects to several of the countries nuclear facilities. Japan is a calm, patient and dignified Nation and will no doubt build from this disaster, however in order to do that they will need as much help as possible.
It is with that in mind that A Bridge Too Far Recordings and The Find Magazine have teamed up to show financial support to the rescue and rehabilitation efforts that will be ongoing for the coming months if not years.
Japan has long been a Nation obsessed with music, arts, films and creative culture and has provided you with a lot of good music in the past.
Lets show our appreciation and support for this by purchasing this download!

Lefto & Simbad’s Worldwide Family Vol. 1 is out now via Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings imprint. The compilation duties typically have fallen on Gilles in the past, but this time around, Gilles hands over these duties to trusted friends Lefto and Simbad, both well respected for their artistry and knowledge of music. The compilation is a 2 CD album, and features music from the likes of Onra, Tokimonsta, Exile, Grooveman Spot, Brassroots, Zed Bias, Seiji, Uphigh Collective and many others.
Kicking off 2011 in fine style, Worldwide Family is a new series from Brownswood Recordings that will see label head Gilles Peterson hand over compiling duties to trusted friends of the label in our perpetual pursuit of the perfect beat. And who better to launch this new venture into orbit than two of our closest cohorts: Lefto and Simbad. Both gents are globetrotting DJs, respected selectors (with web-like worldwide connections) and the two are firm friends. What’s more, they have repped Brownswood from the beginning.
27 tracks deep, ‘Worldwide Family Vol.1’ sets the bar sky high for future instalments. Reaching out to ther respective global networks, Lefto and Simbad have each compiled a stellar selection of exclusive jams that sum up their individual and inimitable styles.
