In honor of keeping a tradition alive of dropping some free music on my birthday (May 10) as a way of saying “Thank You” to anyone that has supported my music & my musical career, I wanted to share this unreleased 2008 project that I did with my good friend, Frank Nitt of Frank N Dank fame. We only made 8 songs with some skits in between & no one has ever heard this EP until now. This was made on saw “raw sh*t” vibe, not giving a f*ck…we even played this EP for a certain “Beat Conducta” while we would hang out at The Do-Over during the summer of 2009, hence the “What’s up to Otis” line in the Intro song. Our unreleased EP would also be the catalyst & sparked the collabo between Frank & Mr. Otis Jackson Jr (“Medicine Show #9: Nittyville”).

Peace Everyone…..
Today is February 7th, 2013….which means it is the birthday of one of the greatest Hip Hop Producers of all time, James Yancey aka J Dilla. Today he would’ve been 39 years old. It is incredible that every month of February for the last 8 years that Dilla’s life & music is celebrated around the whole world. It is also bittersweet because he was taken from us in such an early age when it looked like he was really get ready to take the world by storm. I’ve been very lucky & blessed to be part of his close circle of friends when he moved to Los Angeles. Not only was he was a talented individual and one of the nicest & humble guy I ever met, he was also a private person…..you definitely don’t want to get on his nerves…LOL!!
I know there’s a lot of Dilla Tribute mixes out there, and me personally, I don’t think there’s anyone that can out top a Dilla mix that was made by my fellow Beat Junkie & the 3rd Member of Jaylib, the Funky President himself, J.Rocc. The only one who can possible come close would our good friend, Houseshoes. I already made 2 mixes a few years ago, but I was inspired again to work on another one. I tried to finish the mix late last night but got real tired….I just finally finished this mix before the day was over. I definitely was trying not to repeat songs like I did on my previous Dilla mixes but sometimes you can’t help going back to his classic catalogue. Anyways, here’s my third installment of my “J Dilla Whatupdoe” mixes, a 30 minute vibe mix. Unfortunately, we also lost another Musical legend a few days ago….Mr. Donald Byrd, and i actually added the original “Think Twice” song to the mix as well as Dilla’s version, in paying homage to the legendary musician.
Rest in Peace to Donald Byrd…..and Rest In Peace & Happy Birthday to one of the greatest….J Dilla.

It’s August 22nd, Wednesday morning, 2:27am in the Neitherlands. I’m currently on tour with the Beat Junkies in Europe & we’re spending a few days off in Amsterdam. During our days off, I wanted to be productive & work on beats.
After partaking a couple of “smoke” breaks & walking the lovely city of Amsterdam, I was inspired to work on music. This particular beat was inspired of the late nite vibes while walking thru the Red Light District. I hope i was able to capture the vibe & relay what i was hearing in my head thru the music.
It might not be for everyone, but regardless, I hope you will be appreciate the musical vibes. Thank you for listening – Rhettmatic

The Black Opera launched its first mission last year with Overture. The 7-track audio demonstration was the first glimpse of the secretive conglomerate of artists and musicians that act as counter-cultural operatives. Hidden in plain sight, Overture turned heads with production from 14KT, Apollo Brown, Rhettmatic, SlopFunkDust, J-Rell, and Nick Speed. Mello Music Group is providing the people with this introduction, Overture, free in an effort to recruit more people to the movement.
