Stussy has always been inspired by various genres of music and couterculture in the same way hip-hop’s foundation was built on borrowed elements from soul and rock. The “Seacrhin” mix is a near hour long playlist of original songs sampled in rap classics and currents favorites. Frank The Butcher & DJ7L dug in the crates to unearth compositions that could be found in songs by The Throne, ASAP Rocky, G.O.O.D. stussy x low end theory x teenage engineering – make beats contest

1 09 2011

The Stussy Make Beats Contest is about the fun of modern music making. Whether you’re a beat-maker, rapper, DJ or listener, this contest combines the creative aspect of making music with the fan’s point of view all tied together with some fresh tees and hats. The contest will be judged by Stussy, Low End Theory and Swedish synthesizer company, Teenage Engineering, who produced a new drum machine/synthesizer called the OP-1. In the music world today, it’s rare for a company to develop a piece of hardware, because most people use their computer to make beats. The OP-1 brings it back to the days of drum machines like the 808, when making beats meant banging them out on a machine. The Make Beats contest will start on 8/31/11 and invites the public to upload their own original tracks (made on any machine/computer) via the Stussy Make Beats Drop Box on SoundCloud. Send us your beats!!!

Stussy x Stones Throw: 15 Year Japan Tour Shirt

9 05 2011

Buy: Stussy x Stones Throw: 15 Year Japan Tour Shirt (Black)(White)

Months before the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Stones Throw partnered with Stussy Japan to plan for a for a DJ tour out there: Peanut Butter Wolf, Mayer Hawthorne and J Rocc, celebrating Stones Throw’s 15-year mark and the release of J Rocc’s album Some Cold Rock Stuf.

The tour seemed in doubt for a moment, but for our partners in Japan, it was business as usual. The guys did the tour as planned, with only one J. Rocc show in Sendai having to cancel. (He’ll be back!) We ended up donating the proceeds to Japan Red Cross, and we even came back with a video.

Available now are two of the shirts from the tour, printed by Stussy Japan, and illustrated by Gustavo Eandi, who also did the illustration for J Rocc’s album and a couple of the Madlib Medicine Show releases.
