Débruit “Kaciyorum†ft. Gaye Su Akyol [video]
French producer, Débruit, is proud to present his latest album “Débruit & Istanbul†which is out today and released via his own multidisciplinary imprint, ICI.
The album was recorded in Istanbul, Turkey and was commissioned by the Europalia Arts Festival, which has been organizing arts biennials, focusing on a different guest country, since 1969. Débruit, who is also RBMA alumni, has collaborated with musicians such as Jamie Woon and Om’Mas Keith (Frank Ocean, SA-RA) and organized a stellar roster of new and legendary musicians from Turkey to help participate on the album including Turkish heroes from the 60s/70s, Okay Temiz and Mustapha Özkent.
During his 15 days in Istanbul, Débruit worked on an imaginative interpretation of the city. He wanted the album “to be driven by the feelings†he got from Istanbul through his encounters, experiences, and the citiy’s various textures and layers. The album develops as he explores and discovers the city and it’s neighborhoods and the album successfully communicates the living/breathing nature of an ancient city and it’s process of modernization.
In celebration of today’s album release, check out the first music video from the album for the song “Kaciyorum†ft. Gaye Su Akyol. The full album stream is also available via Bandcamp.
