This joint came together in 2020. I sat down to make a West Coast Erroll Flynnin pt. 2. That Michigan to Cali connection. I kept the drums simple but knocking. I wanted the drums to feel like something you’d hear cats beating on a lunchroom table. So i recorded myself clapping and beating on a table. Claps are a staple in my sound, to me, the hand clap is a fundamental element of that Funk. That James Brown, George Clinton, Parliament/Funkadelic, Roger, Zapp, Marvin Gaye, Bernard Wright to Slum Village funk ??

I chopped up this sample, laid the bassline and I knew I had something ??I just had a studio session with the brotha Bishop Lamont and sent him the beat originally. He told me that it was really dope, but suggested that I should actually send the beat to my other brotha, the West Coast rhyme – scheme King – Mykestro. When he first sent back the demo, we both knew the joint went crazy! Then Mykestro told me he had to get the Legendary DJ Battlecat to lay talkbox for it – Woooo!
