Lt Headtrip and NorthernDraw – Unbound Flight EP

Lt Headtrip and NorthernDraw return with their EP, Unbound Flight, a DIY art-rap travel log fueled by crate-digger boom bap beats. The indie hip-hop road warriors invite their listeners to immerse in different cultures, revealing the connective threads of art and expression worldwide. Headtrip flexes an adept array of lyrical styles accompanied by the mighty Ayatollah, art rap mainstay Quelle Chris, and multilingual vocalists. NorthernDraw’s esoteric samples, pulled from thrift store finds throughout the world, ride atop his signature bouncing drums with assistance from bassist and fellow PDX production maestro MLTZR.
We take off with the hype album opener, 10k Bars, supercharged with international radio DJ shoutouts, then dive directly into the ruminant yet energetic ‘Back Around’ featuring PDX vocalist Lana Shea. The soothing voice of Quelle Chris brings us back to Earth for a quick layover, then we launch again with Ayatollah, Queens legend, who teams up with Trip to offer cinematic glances into the culture of NYC neighborhoods over a classic East Coast beat co-produced by PDX vinyl wizard King Tim 33?. From Venezuelan rapper Julimar’s rapid-fire battle bars in Spanish, a slew of multilingual shout outs collected in the pair’s travels, and the Arabic-peppered vocal performances in groovy album closer Highlights, Unbound Flight is ripe with diverse voices. Bassel Almadani, Syrian-American activist and frontman of the funk/soul ensemble Bassel & The Supernaturals, joins Egyptian rapper Mostafa for a reflective, groovy final stop on the quick but dense journey. Available everywhere March 20th via we are the karma kids.
Loosen your safety belts, lean your seats way back, and enjoy the ride on Unbound Flight.
