Lyric Jones and Ian Wallace team up against release their 2nd single “Too Far Away,” featuring Gene Noble (Sting, Chris Brown, Jill Scott) and Illa J (J Dilla, Slum Village). The track carries a dose of early 2000s nostalgia as Lyric and Ian lean further into their sound: uptempo and funky, but soulful R&B to its core. The energy is romantic and groovy, with a bass line (Chase Jackson) that keeps it moving.
The title feels especially fitting, with all 4 artists contributing from 4 different places to create a catchy record regardless of the distance.
“Too Far Away” is from Lyric and Ian’s forthcoming project, We Should See Otha People, out November 12. Available now on all digital platforms. Support here on Bandcamp is especially appreciated.
