People Under the Stairs on The Simpsons 20 Year Anniversary Episode

As unbelievable as it is for me to type, Mike and myself will be on the Simpsons this Sunday on FOX. And not any Simpsons episode, but the 20 year 450th episode hour long special directed by acclaimed director Morgan Spurlock. A handful of musicians who the cast, crew and I’m sure the esteemed Mr. Groening respect were asked to reinterpret the classic Danny Elfman/Alf Clausen orchestra composition that has become as much apart of American culture as our national anthem. We flew to New York and recorded our portion with the amazing Andrew W.K. In Manhattan right before we left for our Africa Tour. From what I understand, portions of the song were also recorded by the Harlem Gospel Choir, Moby and Phish. We are in pretty high company. To what extent we will be featured on the show I am not sure, but we made the final edit and have signed our releases, so don’t blink or you might miss us (though I haven’t seen it yet). For our part, we cut the Simpsons theme on vinyl (with the help of Pete Lyman) and I made a custom Homer label for the two existing copies of the record, and then Double K cut it up on camera with myself on the drum machine, while Andrew W.K. Played the piano.
