Kenna – Sleep When We Die [audio]

Last minute getaways. Solo car rock outs where the car next to you catches you screaming the lyrics. Dance party remixes. Campfires. Road trips with your best friend. Road trips with a stranger.** Playlist for a loved one. This song was meant for you to rally, be happy. And take on the adventure ahead.

Sleep When We Die is the first song made for Songs For Flight and the beginning of a first ever musical journey.

The “Sleep When We Die” Art

It only makes sense that my journey begin at the beginning. Special thank you to National Geographic Photographer, Keith Ladzinski (@ladzinski). He is brilliant because of the unorthodox approach he takes in capturing each of his photographs. Because he is from the action sports world, Keith has developed a very unique shooting style with strobes and high action shooting techniques that he has introduced to the climbing world.

The photographic image in the “Sleep When We Die” is a shot of a group of climbers on their midnight attempt at ascending to the Uhuru Peak of Mt Kilimanjaro. This photo resonated with me because of the three journeys I have taken to the top of that mountain, and how it represented some of the most difficult times of my life and the fact that during that exact part of the climb is only supported by sheer will and friendship to rise to the occasion. I felt that it represented everything that the song expresses and the journey ahead that will require the same will and alliance of my friends. ‪#‎NothingIsGreaterOrLessThanUs‬ ‪#‎SongsForFlight‬
