On June 7th, LA MC, Matre, will be releasing his “Courage” Mixtape. The mixtape was inspired by a series of international collaborations from around the globe, which resulted in a mix of traditional Hip Hop with world rhythms. The project features guest appearances from Mkya 9 (Freestyle Fellowship), Awol One (Shape Shifters) and Mayda Del Valle (Tony Award Winning singer and Def Jam Poet).

Today, check out the first single “Call Water” (Courage Remix) which is a collaboration between Matre and Tony Award Winning spoken word artist and singer, Mayda Del Valle. The track is a remix of Del Valle’s Afro-Cuban influenced tune and is an invocation of the spirit of water – an invitation for this spirit to bring it’s healing power to a time of extreme drought. Matre’s lyrics paints a picture of social drought – a world thirsty for justice and transformation, and the seed of new potential made possible by facing what we fear.
