Queens-based emcee Googie teams up with underground hip-hop legend Blockhead to walk us through his hometown of West New York and share his genesis with the world. Residential blocks, a waterfront basketball court, a street cat and bodega loitering are only a few of the subjects in this journey into his childhood. We also have the pleasure of meeting Googie’s mother, who gave him the moniker we know him by, and his father.

Director Mike Petrow, known for his tight yet frenetic editing techniques and cinéma vérité directing style, portrays Googie’s adventure in black and white this time, which seems intentionally appropriate for a trip into Googie’s memories.
