Los Angeles’s own, Bei Ru, will release his album “L.A. ZOOO” tomorrow Friday, Oct 7th via Musa Ler Music / Fat Beats. The instrumental concept album is a playful yet ominous outlook on the city of Los Angeles, where humans and animals coexist and where weapons and armour are required for simple walks down the street. The album plays through like Madlib’s Beat Konducta series with whirling instrumentals that lead listeners in different directions at any given moment. Inspired by Bei Ru’s various trips to The Middle East, the album uses various records/samples taken from his various trips, re-intreprating Middle Eastern Melodies from the 1970s to obscure electronic, funk, jazz and soul sounds.

Finally, for those in LA tonight, Bei Ru will have his album release party in Chinatown alongside DJ sets from Fatlip and Toks.
