Detroit Funk/Jazz group, Will Sessions, will release their collaborative album w/ legendary Detroit musician and producer, Amp Fiddler. Their album “Kindred Live” is a live album that was recorded during two shows at esteemed Detroit jazz club, Cliff Bells.

Will Sessions, alongside Amp Fiddler on Fender Rhodes, synth and clarinet, pay tribute to the pioneers of jazz fusion by recreating the songs of genre-defining artists such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Weather Report.

Today, check out the first single for their cover of Miles Davis’s “Sivad” (featured on his “Live-Evil” album) which carries a pulsating and frenetic groove that never lets up. The song is a strong indicator for what’s to be expected on their upcoming album.

This album is taken from two live performances. One from 2010 and one from 2012. The first time we collaborated with Amp Fiddler was at our show in 2010. We wanted another keyboard player that could really dig deep into some jazz fusion. Amp really brings great energy everywhere he goes, so when you perform with him the music is affected by that, and some really amazing things happen on stage. The song Sivad is a good example of that. We were having a lot of fun and you can hear it in the music. The collaboration seemed very natural and we enjoyed working with each other. We have been working together ever since.
