The phrase ‘local rapper’ has always seemed to have derogatory overtones. Wrapped up in this description of an artist comes assumptions of underachievers, people who just cannot hack it on the national stage. So, naturally, they become stigmatized by music fans, often more harshly those in their own community.

Well, I wanted to let my community know, I take pride in being your rapper. Topeka, Kansas has given me my perspective and which I write from, and hope to continue to share it with as many folks as possible all over the map.
