@joycewrice and I wanted to sing a duet, so I wrote this ballad about an existential aspect of the night life: to be, or not to be, on the guest list. I take on the roll of both sides, first the caller who needs to cut in line, and then the artist who tries to explain why the guest list is closed. Joyce is trying to set boundaries on the hook. Boundaries are important. Devin Morrison @devinmorrison and Mndsgn @mndsgn made the beat, and gatdam, what a beat it is…
