“Lighthouse” is the second single off Blockhead’s upcoming album The Aux, out November 17, 2023, via Backwoodz Studioz. This single features UGLYFRANK, a gritty Pacific Northwest rapper who weaves between the keys and drums like a pretty boxer.

Blockhead was introduced to the artist’s music via Frank’s fellow Tacoma resident and mutual collaborator Eliot Lipp. “Eliot had been singing his praises to me for a while and when I finally got around to checking Frank out I immediately became a fan,” Blockhead remembers. “I eventually sent him a pack of beats, and with his versatility I wasn’t sure what he’d go for, but I was happy to see him take a darker beat.”

Once Blockhead started sequencing the song around Frank’s vocals, he knew “Lighthouse” was going to be one of the album’s highlights. “It’s one of those songs that gets better and better as it goes. Dude pretty much blacks out in the second verse,” Blockhead says. When he sat down with woods to talk about shooting videos the #uglyfrank feature was on both of their lists. “I chose this for the second single because I wanted to shine a light on a lesser-known artist from the album,” Blockhead explains. “It also fits the simple concept behind the whole project: putting a bunch of rappers that I listen to together on one album.”
