Rob Cave – God Dose | album

Growing up in Brooklyn, GOD was everywhere. My Mom and dad were heavy in the Baptist church and so was my extended family. I grew up in Bed-Stuy, known as the “City of Churches” because of the amount of houses of worship. My grandmother was a faith healer and on the streets my guys were 5%ers who spoke of Gods and Earths and God Body and all of that. Gospel music blaring out a brownstone while the adhan call from the masjid, greeting my nigga with “Peace, God”. There was an abundance of places not only to worship but to gather and be a community in practice, not just proximity.

I’m not that religious nowadays but I still believe in God in a sense and this project is about the God I believe in. Cuz I gotta believe in something. I believe in the necessity of belief.

I believe in myself

God Dose isn’t about a supernatural being, it’s about finding the deity in ourselves and each other.

I believe in you

I don’t know how you’d describe it. Non-Denominational Gospel? Boom-Bap Blues? It ain’t my job to name it. It’s just how I feel and what I think in the form of dope beats and dope rhymes.

Mostly produced by the legendary 88-keys with a couple of my own beats rounding it out, all of the featured artists on the album are legends in their own right. Sandra Izsadore the mother of Afro-beat, cult favorites Tanya Morgan and New York Iconoclast Influenza the Sickest Influencer, Dallas Penn (RIP).

Dropping on October 10th, pre-order at the link in the bio

I hope you enjoy it. I enjoyed making it. I don’t know if I’ll put it on streaming I just care to make it for those who know but if I do it’ll be AFTER vinyl, not before, pre orders will likely determine that. Stay tuned on that
