Track 5 off my project iMAKE GOLD!

I met SHAD at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Playlist Retreat (real dope guy!). I was familiar with his music before and loved how he rhymed. SHAD is always posting freestyles on Instagram of him just rhyming over instrumentals. There was this one verse he wrote over Kardinal Offishall’s “Ol’ Killin Time” beat that inspired me. While listening to SHAD’s effortless flow and how he described and displayed dope emceeing simultaneously, I heard the whole beat in my head immediately. I started building the drums first, then listened to his vocals over just the drum track. Chopped up a sample then sent him a demo. SHAD loved it and wanted to recut his vocals to the beat. The track that you hear now became the first joint we ever made together —which led to me producing SHAD’s “REEL SPEAKERS EP”.
