Ghost Machine “My Lovely Storm” + Alcynoos & Parental “Pillage” | audio

M.A.P is a collaborative album by Mattic, Alcynoos, and Parental, born from an instrumental project conceived as a tribute to the late J Dilla. What began as a relatively straightforward invitation for Mattic to add his lyrics to the productions gradually evolved into a four-year creative journey, transforming the original concept into something entirely different. Rather than simply placing vocals over existing instrumentals, Mattic was given complete artistic freedom to intervene in the music itself. Through lyrics, skits, additional samples, vocal transformations, effects, delays, textures, and sonic manipulations, he gradually became part of the production process, reshaping the compositions from within. This is where Ghost Machine emerged as a central creative force.
Already present in Mattic’s wider artistic universe, Ghost Machine found a new dimension on M.A.P. No longer confined to the role of an MC, Mattic could explore the space between voice, sound, and machine, allowing his identity to dissolve into the music and influence its very architecture. What started as an instrumental tribute became a dialogue between three artistic visions: Alcynoos’ and Parental’s original productions, Mattic’s lyrical universe, and the experimental dimension of Ghost Machine. M.A.P is the sound of that encounter.
A Journey Between Two Cities
The title M.A.P carries several meanings. It brings together the initials of Mattic, Alcynoos, and Parental, while also tracing the geographical and creative journey connecting Le Havre and Paris. Throughout the four years of its creation, tracks, demos, ideas, and alternative versions moved back and forth between the two cities. This physical exchange became a creative process in its own right, with each contribution shifting the direction of the project. The album is therefore not simply a collection of tracks. It is a record of movement, transformation, and exchange – a sonic territory shaped by distance, collaboration, and experimentation.? The Artwork: Becoming The Map
The cover art captures the essence of the project. The map does not merely appear on Mattic’s face; it seems to become his face. Lines cross his features, disrupting their contours and transforming his identity into a landscape. The person remains recognizable, yet becomes fragmented, altered, and gradually absorbed by another system. This image reflects the presence of Ghost Machine throughout the album. Mattic is both the artist navigating the territory and the territory itself, simultaneously asserting his identity and allowing it to be reshaped by the machine. The face becomes a map. The map becomes a system. The system becomes music.? Two Sides Of The Same Journey
The album’s two sides offer two distinct perspectives on the same creative process.? SIDE A — The Transformed Territory
The project as it ultimately became: a fully realized collaboration in which Mattic’s lyrics, vocals, skits, samples, effects, and sonic manipulations reshape the original productions. It represents the point where the initial compositions have evolved into a new musical landscape, shaped by the presence of Ghost Machine.? SIDE B — The Original Territory
The original instrumentals by Alcynoos and Parental, presented as the foundations from which the project emerged. Heard alongside Side A, these compositions reveal another perspective on the same journey, bringing the listener closer to the project’s starting point.Rather than separating the album into rap tracks and instrumentals, the two sides function as complementary territories. Their different track titles reinforce the idea that the listener is exploring the same musical landscape from two different positions. One side reveals the transformation. The other preserves the origin. Together, they allow the listener to experience both the source and the evolution of the music.
? The Vision
At its heart, M.A.P is a story of creative freedom. It is about what can happen when an initial idea is allowed to evolve beyond its original boundaries, when collaboration becomes a process of mutual transformation, and when an artist is invited not merely to perform within a sound, but to reshape it from the inside. Rooted in the spirit of instrumental hip-hop and the legacy of J Dilla, the album moves beyond the framework of a conventional producer-and-MC collaboration. It documents the meeting of three artists, two cities, and multiple sonic identities, resulting in a project that could only have emerged through time, exchange, and experimentation.Somewhere between Le Havre and Paris, between the original beat and its transformation, Ghost Machine entered the picture. And the map changed. M.A.P is not just a destination. It is the journey that transforms everyone involved.
