South East London musician and MC Shannon Parkes returns with “Chat With Mum”, a heavy, energetic grime anthem built on hard-hitting production from Bristol-based producer Vice beats.

A Greenwich native, Shannon Parkes has been producing music and writing lyrics for over 15 years. First drawn to grime during his school days, he has spent years sharpening his sound as both a prolific MC and producer, developing a style rooted in sharp delivery, characterful storytelling and everyday humour. Along the way, he has collaborated with respected names including Nasty Jack, Marger, Blessed and Afrikan Boy. Known for cheeky, relatable lyrics, Shannon brings that personality to the front on “Chat With Mum”. The track imagines a conversation with another MC’s mother about her son’s poor behaviour, turning a simple concept into a playful, witty and direct grime record full of memorable bars and everyday situations.

The production comes from Vice beats, a UK producer known for soulful, sample-rooted Hip Hop and collaborative work across the UK and international music scenes. On “Chat With Mum”, Vice beats switches into a darker, harder grime space, delivering a raw, energetic riddim that gives Shannon room to attack the track with humour, confidence and precision.
